It’s Memorial Day, 7:29am Tonkin Gulf time.

Haven’t talked with you in a while. The USS ORISKANY, that magnificent lady on which we went through hell together, has slipped away into the deep and now rests forever in silent waters off the Florida coast.

As we prepare to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday, let us not forget that the holiday is about more than barbecues and the official beginning of summer vacation. It is about remembering all those members of the U.S. military who have sacrificed their lives in support of our freedom, who have given up all their tomorrows so that we may enjoy ours.
