AFP - Violence in Iraq “remains at 2003 lows” and a 2011 deadline for a US troop exit will be met, the top US army commander in Iraq said Sunday, but he warned flexibility on some interim drawdowns may be needed.

US military deaths in Afghanistan region at 604<br /> (AP)<br />

AP - As of Saturday, April 11, 2009, at least 604 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, according to the Defense Department. The department last updated its figures Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.
